Kevin Raine will be feared by opponents, warns Belfast Giant boss Keefe
Belfast Giants coach Adam Keefe has backed his latest signing to be a man that the team's fans will love and opponents will hate.
Big hitter Kevin Raine joins the Giants after splitting last season between the Florida Everblades in the East Coast Hockey League and the Charlotte Checkers in the American League, and he comes to Belfast with a calibre that made him attractive to Keefe.
"Kevin is my type of player," said his new coach. "He will compete every night for the Giants and he throws bone crushing hits, so our opponents will have to keep their heads up.
"Raine skates really well and is solid at both ends of the ice. I think the fans are going to love this guy."
The 24-year-old Ontario native won the Calder Cup in his first professional season with the Manchester Monarchs.
Keefe has now completed deals with a total of 12 players - four defencemen and eight forwards - ahead of the new season which starts on the first weekend of September.
