Robby Sandrock has set his sights on retaining the Elite League title after signing on for a third successive season with the Belfast Giants.

The 36-year-old defenceman was part of the Giants' Play-off winning team in 2003 and was lured back to Belfast in 2012 after a decade in Germany, thanks to the club's link-up with the University of Ulster.

Two years on it is the desire to win more honours that is keeping Sandrock in Belfast.

After the Giants announced his return, Sandrock said on Twitter: "Let's do it all over again this season. Back to back Champs? That's our goal."

The Giants have now retained 12 of last season's Elite League winning squad, while talks are on-going with goaltender Stephen Murphy.

That leaves coach Steve Thornton with six more slots to fill.

"There are plenty of good players contacting us about coming to Belfast, so right now we are in a good position," said Thornton.
