Graeme Walton has begun the process of assembling his All Star team for his testimonial at the Odyssey Arena next month.
And the first name on his team sheet is the first ever Belfast-born player to score a home goal for the Belfast Giants.
Gareth Martin was one of the first locals to play for the team, along with Mark Morrison, and he will join his long time friend Walton — the longest serving player in Giants history — on his big night on Tuesday, February 12.
Goaltender Stevie Lyle, who had two spells with the Giants before returning to home town club Cardiff, will also be back in Belfast for the testimonial game. As will Leigh Jamieson, who was part of the team that won the Elite League title in the 2005-06 season.
Walton is hopeful of securing the services of a number of other Giants legends for his team that will take on the current team, with Morrison expected to be among them.
Meanwhile, five of Doug Christiansen's team will be in the Great Britain squad for next month's final Olympic qualifier in Lativa.
David Phillips, Colin Shields, Mark Garside, Craig Peacock and goaltender Stephen Murphy have been named in the preliminary 32-man squad selected by coach Tony Hand, but all five are expected to make the final cut for the tournament on February 7-10.
