Jonathan Phillips nets overtime winner as Sheffield Steelers slide into second

Sheffield Steelers claimed a 2-1 overtime victory over Belfast Giants to move into second place in the Elite League.

The SSE Arena crowd had to wait 32 minutes for the deadlock to be broken by Mike Wilson's sixth goal of the season.

But Sheffield levelled through Zack Fitzgerald three minutes later.

And the Steelers dramatically won it in overtime when Jonathan Phillips netted his seventh goal of the season.

The win takes Sheffield above Braehead Clan in the Elite League standings and within five points of leaders Cardiff Devils with a game in hand.
