Maiden pole for Davies

Wales' Chaz Davies has clinched his first-ever pole position by leading a Ducati one-two in qualifying for the ninth round of World Superbikes in Laguna Seca.

The Knighton-born rider outperformed team-mate Davide Giugliano by two tenths of a second to prevail with a best lap of one minute and 22.101 seconds.

Kawasaki's Tom Sykes and Jonathan Rea dominated the timesheets coming into Superpole but will start from fourth and fifth on the grid, with Red Devils Aprilia rider Jordi Torres squeezing into third.
