Meyer inspires Clan success

Stefan Meyer scored twice as Braehead Clan moved to within a point of Elite League leaders Sheffield Steelers thanks to a 5-2 victory over Belfast Giants.

Lee Esders, Tristan Harper and Matt Keith scored within a span of 2:31 midway through the second period to give the Clan a 3-0 lead before Mike Kompon got the Giants on the board shortly after.

Meyer's 20th goal of the season restored the three-goal advantage but Kompon's second powerplay effort of the night got Belfast back into it.

However, Meyer wrapped things up when he fired into the empty net with Carsen Chubak on the bench for the extra attacker.

Jordan Mayer scored a hat-trick and Will Frederick added a goal and an assist as Hull Stingrays recorded a 6-3 victory on the road over Edinburgh Capitals and in the evening's final game, a pair of Jordan Fulton goals gave Fife Flyers a 3-2 win over Dundee Stars.
