Colin Turkington insists he's relishing new challenge

Colin Turkington says he is entering "a brand new chapter" of his career as he prepares for the start of the 2015 British Touring Car Championship.

Turkington won the title for a second time last year driving a West Surrey Racing BMW but now moves on to join arch-rival Jason Plato at the ambitious Team BMR, switching from rear-wheel-drive cars to take on the challenge of a front-wheel-drive Volkswagen Passat.

Speaking ahead of the BTCC pre-season media day at the Donington circuit yesterday, the champion from Portadown said: "Last year was incredible for me. I was at the top of my game in the BMW and I took great pleasure in helping to develop the car into a championship winner.

"But that's history and right now I'm focusing on what lies ahead. This is a new chapter and a brand new beginning for me.

"You can never afford to become complacent and I know I have to work even harder this year. I'm starting the championship with realistic expectations and will do my best to maximise the package I've got.

"I'm not going to aim for anything less than victory, but I have different short-term milestones to aim at. Team BMR is a move I've made because of the potential of the team and what we can do in future."
