British Touring Car champion Colin Turkington returns to action at Donington Park this weekend buoyed up by an encouraging start to the season with his new BMR Volkswagen team.

Three races, three finishes in the points, including a podium, and sixth place in the championship after the opening rounds at Brands Hatch was close to what he might have hoped for after his move from title-winning West Surrey Racing to the ambitious BMR team.

"Brands Hatch was a step into the unknown for me," Turkington said.

"New team, new car and a switch to front-wheel-drive after so many years in BMWs, it was an important learning experience.

"But we laid strong foundations for the season and challenges ahead.

"I'm feeling really confident with the potential of the Volkswagen CC and the improvements I know are still to come from both the team and me as we get to grips with the new package.

"I'm looking forward to getting back in the car and building on what we've already achieved.

"All in all, it was a solid start to year considering all the new challenges but I'm ready to fight hard to be in a position to retain my title."
