Lampkin heading for Mountains of Mourne

Multi World Champion Yorkshireman Dougie Lampkin heads the line-up for the first and second rounds of this year’s World Trials title which will be staged over a new venue at Donard Park in Newcastle Co Down on April 4 and 5.

The trial will be organised by the Belfast Lightweight Cub who have been outstandingly successful in staging the world title in earlier years in Bangor.

Last years event was a success and attracted over 15,000 spectators to the North Down venue.

Lampkin has won three times at the Lightweight meeting, and took the World title round in 2004. He will be one of the favourites this time but the top man will be Spanish World Champion Toni Bou, who has been champion in 2007 and 2008 and has indoor and outdoor titles under his belt. His win last year at Bangor was highly impressive. The overall sponsors are Adeliade Insurance Services. The other sponsors are uHire, Plant Machinery and Tool Hire Newtownards along with Down District Council who host for the first time.
