McGuinness on his bike

John McGuinness will ride in Saturday’s Stoneyford Grand Prix despite fears that he wouldn’t be able to find a suitable machine.

The availability of a machine had been the sticking point around McGuinness being at Dundrod, but according to Noel Johnston, the Clerk of the Course for the event, thanks to Clive Padgett an eleventh hour deal has been done and McGuinness — twice a winner at the UGP — will take his place on the grid.

McGuinness is, of course, the fastest man ever around the 7.4mile Dundrod Circuit at a speed of 131.717mph set in 2007 when he finished second to Guy Martin in the Dundrod 150 superbike race and he will be a welcome addition to the quality line-up.
