McRae is centre stage
All-time Circuit of Ireland legend Jimmy McRae will be one of the star guests at an event ahead of this year’s Intercontinental Challenge-counting event.
The record-breaking Scot, seven-times winner in the 1980s, will be joined on stage by IRC champions past and present, Kris Meeke and Andreas Mikkelsen, at rally headquarters, the City Hotel, Armagh, on April 4 (8pm).
The other guests include Malcolm Wilson, head of the Ford World championship team, Ford’s director of European motorsport, Cork-born Gerard Quinn, and World Super 2000 championship leader Craig Breen who will be heading the strong Peugeot challenge on the April 6-7 Circuit.
The show will be hosted by Sky Sports presenter Tony Jardine who is also taking part in the rally. He is to be joined by his co-driver, journalist and F1 commentator Maurice Hamilton.
Meanwhile, Breen is currently in Portugal preparing for this weekend’s third round of the SWRC series.
After victory on the Monte Carlo Rally and second place in Sweden, the 22-year-old from Waterford leads the championship by 18 points from Sweden’s P-G Andersson.
