Meeke set for Court

This weekend sees the first ‘big’ meeting of the season when the British Superkart Series and UK Cup visits the Bishopscourt circuit on Saturday.

Undefeated World Formula E champion Trevor Roberts from Lurgan goes up against visiting rival and European champion Gavin Bennett from England and no less than former World IRC Rally Champion Kris Meeke.

Roberts and Meeke in competition with Bennett will be something unique this year and based on Meeke’s performances in the past at Nutts Corner it will be interesting to see just how his total commitment fairs out at the fast-paced 1.8 mile circuit near Downpatrick.

Roberts will contend the 250cc National class and although he dominated the opposition the last time this event came to these shores he has only contended the opening meeting at Oulton Park this season.

As a result Roberts realistically needs to win both of the points scoring rounds on Saturday to be in with a chance of getting to the final podium.

Racing this Saturday gets underway at 10am with free entry for spectators.
