Professor brought to book

By Sammy Hamill

Published 26/09/2015

Ulster-born Maurice Hamilton has been writing and broadcasting about Formula One for more than 30 years. He is also the author of close on 40 books on motorsport, from the history of the British Grand Prix to Green Races Red, the story of the first Irish driver to race for Ferrari, Ulsterman Eddie Irvine.

His latest book is a detailed look at four-time World champion Alain Prost - the Professor - covering the part played by Ulsterman John Watson in the French star's introduction to Formula One through to his acrimonious battles with Ayrton Senna.

Commissioned by McLaren to write a series of books on the team's World champions, the latest has been timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of Prost's first title in 1985. He is already working on the story of James Hunt to be published in 2016, 40 years on from the Englishman's 1976 win.
