Sam Moffett warmed up for the start of the British rally championship in Wales next weekend by winning the Omagh Spring Rally, bringing his R5 Ford Fiesta to the finish in Fivemiletown some 50 seconds clear of the Mitsubishi of Mark Donnelly.

It was the other Mark Donnelly, the former Pirelli Star Driver, who led for the first four stages only to retire his Subaru with a broken alternator belt, which he will be very disappointed with considering his impressive start to the race.

Another Moffett, Sam's brother Josh, took over in front in his Fiesta but then he dropped out at the halfway point.

The older Moffett carried on to win comfortably from Donnelly's borrowed Mitsubishi with Niall McCullagh, also in a Lancer, finishing in third.

Frank Kelly took fourth in his Ford Escort on a countback after tying with the Mitsubishi of Frank O'Brien and he then edged out the Toyota Starlet of Shane McGirr to win the two-wheel-drive division by a second after a great last stage charge.
