Stars to shine at the Ulster Grand Prix

Published 11/08/2009

A year on from a complete wash-out the Stoneyford Concrete Ulster Grand Prix, currently the fastest road race in the world, is back on track this week.

There’s an action-packed programme of events for all the family, ranging from autograph signing sessions with ex-World Superbike Champion Carl Fogarty, to chat shows featuring the top competitors who will be racing this week, live music, paddock walk-a-bouts stunt shows, street entertainers and of course the practice sessions prior to Saturday’s main Ulster Grand Prix race day.

The main action starts with afternoon practice tomorrow with the roads closing at 1.30pm.

On Thursday roads close for practice at 10am followed by the Dundrod 150 races commencing at 2pm.

Following these races there will be parade laps by men and machines from yesteryear followed by the Mattie Griffin stunt show in the paddock area after the roads reopen.

The Ulster Grand Prix Supporters Club will host a chat show in the VIP Marquee from 8pm.

Also a charity auction will take place in the Ballymac in aid of Nick Crowe and Mark Cox seriously injured in the second sidecar race at the TT.

Friday is a rest day for competitors, but the paddock area will be open all day with the Wall of Death taking centre stage.

Auto Test vehicles will be giving demonstrations in the paddock from 6pm and the legendary Fogarty will be signing autographs at the UGP Supporters Club trade stand from 6pm.

Fogarty’s appearance is a real boost to this year’s event.
