Having thrust himself back to the sharp end of the battle for the British Touring Car Championship with consecutive victories at Snetterton, Colin Turkington will return to a circuit where he has been a multiple winner in the past.

But the Knockhill track in Scotland, with its slow, uphill corners, has traditionally suited the rear-wheel-drive BMWs which carried Turkington to his two BTCC titles. Now he is on board a front-wheel-drive Volkswagen CC and, penalised with heavy 'success' ballast for his second place in the standings, the Portadown driver knows he will have a fight on his hands.

Turkington, who is 16 points behind his BMR team-mate Jason Plato, is cautiously optimistic but points out that the championship is just past the halfway mark.

"There is a long way to go and the championship is going to ebb and flow over the remaining races. You never know what is around the next corner but we need to stay focused and keep moving forward," he said.

All three races are live on ITV4 on Sunday from 11.30am.
