A major blow to motorcycling has come about with the news that the World Championship trial which was to have been held in Bangor next April has been wiped out.

A shattered David Rodgers chairman of the Lightweight Club who are staging the trial said: "We have been told by the North Down Borough Council that they will not be involved next year.

“We only have a matter of days before we meet the world body and tell them of what has happened. We would hope to get a new sponsor and venue in that time.”
