Glenn Irwin to stay with Be Wiser Ducati for 2018 British Superbike season
Glenn Irwin has agreed a third season with his Be Wiser Ducati British Superbike team.
The Carrickfergus rider will remain with his current outfit for the 2018 campaign in a deal announced after his maiden British Superbike victory at Silverstone last weekend.
“We offered a two-year deal to Shakey and this is our commitment to honouring that as he continues to be a class act in BSB,” said team owner Paul Bird. “Glenn has also shown what a talent he is and despite his injuries, he’s had a great season for us.
“We wanted to be the first team to commit to the series for 2018 and continue with the great team we have. We can now concentrate all our efforts on doing our best to win the 2017 British Superbike Championship.”
The team boss also added the the team are likely to take part in 2018's North West 200 race meeting.
Irwin's title hopes were ruined by injuries sustained in a crash at Knockhill earlier in the season but his work for 2017 is far from over. Team-mate Shane Byrne, who will also remain with the team in 2018, is chasing down the top title and Irwin last week reiterated his desire to do all he can to make that happen.
Irwin said: "If I can do anything to assist Shakey in any way possible, it goes without saying I'll do that."
