One of the most sought after titles at Friday’s Adelaide Motorcycle Awards will be the IFS Global Logistics Road Racer of the Year with the judging panel having to decide from a shortlist of nine.

Six were winners around the Mountain Circuit on the Isle of Man.

Michael Dunlop (Superstock), Bruce Anstey (Supersport1) Gary Johnson (Supersport2) and John McGuinness (Superbike and Senior) were TT victors while Ryan Farquhar won three classic races at the Manx Grand Prix and Andrew Brady, from Roslea in Co Fermanagh, became the first Irishman for 15 years to claim a Junior and Senior Manx Grand Prix double.

Dunlop, in particular, had a tremendous season, going on to win three races at the Ulster Grand Prix and winning 16 Irish national races on his way to a championship double. He is now the fastest Irishman at both the TT and Ulster while he added the S100 solo championship to his CV for the first time.

Anstey, from New Zealand, also won the Ulster Grand Prix feature Superbike race, leading virtually from start to finish on corrected time, despite coming from the second group of riders after a poor qualifying.

Guy Martin scored four podiums from five TT races and this consistency carried over to the Ulster where he scored a Superbike race win along with two other podiums and two top six finishes.

Farquhar was the King of Scarborough winning all four major feature races, the Spring Cup, Cock O’the North, Barry Sheene Classic and was the first Irishman to win the prestigious Gold Cup Race in its 60-year history. He also topped the Duke Road Race rankings for the fourth time in a row and won five races at both the Cookstown 100 and Bush road races

William Dunlop is also shortlisted after winning both 125 and 250cc Irish road race titles among 20 Irish national road race victories, getting the upper hand of brother Michael at Skerries, Athea and Kells.

Who would be a judge trying to sort a winner from these nominations?
