Nottingham Panthers go second with win over Sheffield Steelers

Nottingham Panthers leapfrogged Sheffield to take second place in the Elite League table after beating the Steelers 5-3 at the National Ice Centre.

The hosts quickly avenged their 2-1 Boxing Day defeat as scores from David Clarke (two), Logan MacMillan, Cam Janssen and Sam Oakford rendered goals from Jason Hewitt, Robert Dowd and Levi Nelson redundant.

Manchester Storm ran out comfortable 5-1 victors over Fife Flyers thanks to a brace and two assists from Vinny Scarsella, while Guillaume Doucet's overtime score helped Cardiff Devils squeeze past Coventry Blaze 4-3.

Dundee Stars ran riot against Edinburgh Capitals. Bobby Chaumont and Lou Dickenson were both on target twice in a 6-2 win at the Murrayfield Ice Rink.

Belfast Giants were also victorious in Scotland as Mitch Ganzak scored in overtime to down the Braehead Clan 4-3 in Renfrew.
