A gold medal-winning Olympic hurdler has fled the UK because it is too cold to train here, according to his coach.
Liu Xiang had been training at St Mary's University College in Twickenham but just days later headed to Germany instead.
Talking to the the Xinmin Evening News, his coach said: “Due to the low temperatures in London many Chinese athletes and other sports teams have chosen to look for other training bases. Liu Xiang is not the only one.”
Liu has now relocated to Düsseldorf, where he has trained before, and is set to return at the start of August.
