Mayor's Olympic suit 'looked like giant penis'
The mayor of a Lincolnshire town has been criticised for wearing an 8ft tall sausage-shaped outfit that onlookers said resembled a giant penis.
Jill Makinson-Sanders (61), mayoress of Louth, ditched her regal robe and chains as the town took part in the Olympic torch relay in favour of the costume that she said was in support of the Lincolnshire sausage.
One resident told The Times that Ms Makinson-Sanders looked ‘obscene’ running alongside the torch while another slammed her distasteful move as a bid to ‘hijack the event for commercial reasons’.
The mayoress said she was attending the event as a spectator and was off duty which is why she opted out of wearing her usual regalia.
