I am good enough for a crack against John Duddy: Moore

Jamie Moore says he's aiming for a showdown with John Duddy later this year.

Moore challenges Belfast's Ciaran Healy for the Irish light-middleweight title tonight in the National Basketball Arena and victory will then take him on to a European championship shot. But he says unbeaten Duddy is certainly on his radar.

"Me against John Duddy would be a hell of a fight," he says. " None of us would think about stepping back.

"I've shown what I'm made of and he's shown that he's got a granite chin and that he can dig deep. It would probably be like me and (Matthew) Macklin all over again. The fans would be in for a treat."

"It would be unbelievable. They're the sort of fights I want to be in. In the last 12 months people have started to talk about me in America."

Moore comes to Dublin as a red hot favourite having vacated his British and Commonwealth belts to pursue the European crown and a ticket to a world title shot - which Duddy is beind lined up for in September against IBF champion Verno Phillips. Moore says he will not be taking the champion for granted as he knows this is Healy's chance to move into the big time domestically.

"It's the biggest fight of his career. He's had a good 12 weeks training for this fight. He's not going to give the fight up easy. That's for sure.

"There's no saying that I won't get him out of there quickly because I believe I'm good enough to do that to anybody. But he's going to put up a lot of resistance and he's going to go out on his shield," adds Moore.

Healy of course believes he can come through the Moore storm to retain his title and then cash in on a British title shot.

Healy said: "I have to be ready for him making a fast start and if I can get through that then we'll see what he's like as the fight goes on."
