Rebecca Adlington insists it is full steam ahead as she begins the countdown to the defence of her two Olympic crowns in London next year.

The 22-year-old enjoyed a successful summer when she won the 800m freestyle crown, as well as silver in the 400m, at the World Championships in Shanghai.

All eyes have now turned to London, with the Games just 10 months away and Adlington was clearly relishing the start of the training cycle that will hopefully culminate in success in the capital next summer.

She said: "It's good to be back in to get ready for the trials. Everyone is excited for this block of work.

"Last year with the Commies (Commonwealth Games) it was such a long season but it's completely different this season."
