Caroline Wozniacki gets tips from Rory McIlroy

Caroline Wozniacki hopes that advice from her boyfriend Rory McIlroy can help her to make her Grand Slam breakthrough.

The world No 1 said after her 6-1 7-6 win over Georgia's Anna Tatishvili yesterday that she had received some useful tips from McIlroy, who won the US Open weeks after suffering a final-round meltdown at the Masters.

"You can't really do anything about the past," Wozniacki said. "You just need to look forward. You have a tournament now, and you want to do the best you can. That's it. Then if it goes well, it's great. If not, you have the next one."

Wozniacki revealed that she had taken up golf.

"I think it's more mental than tennis," she said. "You do one wrong movement and the ball goes in the trees or somewhere and it's difficult."

Other leading contenders for the women's title had comfortable wins.

Kim Clijsters and Victoria Azarenka both dropped just one game apiece in beating Stephanie Foretz Gacon and Casey Dellacqua respectively.
