Arganil’s treble bid

By Burnaby

Kevin Ryan has his string in good shape and he can strike again with Arganil, who looks the best bet on an interesting seven-race card at Pontefract.

The three-year-old is unexposed and certainly on the up, winning his last two starts in the manner of a horse who could make up into a useful handicapper.

The latest of his wins came at Beverley last week, where stamped his authority on an ordinary - if competitive - field, making all to win with plenty in hand.

That was his first try at five furlongs and having won over six, he clearly sees the minimum distance out well.

A 6lb penalty ought not to stop him being firmly involved at the business end of the Rifles Cup Handicap.

Caster Sugar bumped into a potentially smart one of Sir Michael Stoute’s last time out at Folkestone and should make amends in the Best Horse Racing Sky Channel 432 Fillies’ Nursery.

Luca Cumani’s youngster had no answer to Group One-entered My Superstar last time.
