It was a successful day for 16-year-old athlete Megan Marrs, who clinched a double victory in yesterday's Irish U-20 Athletics Championships in Dublin .

The Lisburn AC woman destroyed the opposition in the 100 metres, winning easily in 11.82 seconds – her second fastest ever time. Silver went to Kilkenny's Kate Lacy in 12.03 seconds.

The Strathearn schoolgirl then went on to take gold in the 100 metres hurdles in 14.42 seconds ahead of Shannen Dawkins, who finished in 14.86 seconds.

Club mate Roseanna McGuckian, who has been selected by Ireland for the World Youth Olympics in China in August, took silver in the 200 metres in 24.43 seconds – her second fastest time behind her 24.38 seconds run when she won the NI Senior title.

Finn Valley's Fellan McGuigan won gold in the hammer by a five metre margin with a throw of 63.49 metres. There was a similar win for brother Dempsey in the U-23 hammer with a throw of 64.47 metres.

Newry's Aislinn Crossey had to make do with bronze in a closely fought Junior 800 metres.

Gold went to DSD's Siofra Cleirigh Buttner in 2.10.46 ahead of Galway's Alanna Lally (2.10.70) with Aislinn being timed at 2.11.27. All three have the qualification times for the World Junior Championships in Oregon but only two will be selected.
