Aussies take a hammering

Published 04/01/2010

Australian batsman Mike Hussey insists a testing SCG wicket was not entirely to blame for his side's dire performance with the bat on day one of the second Test against Pakistan.

Hussey was one of just four batsman to reach double figures on a rain-shortened opening day which saw the hosts bundled out for 127 after skipper Ricky Ponting opted to bat on an old-fashioned green top.

“I don't think it was a 127 all-out pitch,” Hussey said. “We are disappointed.”

Pakistan ended the day on 14 without loss.
