Bangor swimmers aim for an upset

Published 05/06/2009

Bangor aim to upset the odds and claim the Charity Shield in their home pool tonight.

The highlight of the under-11 season is staged at the Bangor Leisure Centre with Lisburn defending their crowd against fellow finalists Bangor and Ards.

Bangor team manager Emma McGratten said: “We lost to Lisburn and Ards in the league but we had a few of our best swimmers missing. Last weekend we defeated Templemore and beat them by a bigger margin than Ards or Lisburn so hopefully we can pull off an upset.

“At the recent Ulster Age Group championships we achieved the best performance by any club in the history of the sport because we took home 66 gold medals out of a possible 193 so we’re in good form.”
