The Hudson Bar has announced that it is to become the main sponsor of Northern Ireland's only adult baseball team.

The maroon and gold uniforms of the Belfast Northstars will now feature the logo of the popular city centre pub.

The Hudson first opened in September 2011 as a small bar on Gresham Street. Since then it has expanded into a three floored, four roomed bar with a large outdoor smoking area.

The Northstars, who were established in 1996, compete in the eight-team Baseball Ireland adult league.

Neil Boyd, Belfast Northstars' general manager, said:

"This welcome investment is timely as we are working hard to further develop the sport of baseball in Northern Ireland. To do this we need access to quality facilities and equipment and the Hudson's support for our club will help us achieve this," he said.

"We are proud to be associated with the Hudson Bar, value its support and look forward to a long and fruitful association which can only enhance the game."
