Basketball: Queen's get financial boost after netting new sponsor

By Ali Gordon

Northern Ireland's largest basketball club, Queen's, have received a massive financial boost after online classified advertiser Jookit.com has revealed that it will sponsor the growing club.

With over 350 members on their books, Queen's Basketball Club welcomed the four-year sponsorship deal which will fund clothing and kits and support the club in its bid to encourage physical activity amongst youngsters.

The successful Belfast club has provided children's basketball coaching for over 20 years, with summer programmes also running throughout June and July.

Training at Queen's impressive PEC facility, the club has both adult and children's teams which compete in a number of Basketball NI Leagues.

Jookit.com's marketing manager, Emma Marley, said: "We believe passionately in bringing local communities closer together. We've done this on our website through our School Swap Shop initiative, helping both cash and environmentally conscious parents to swap clothing and equipment with other mums and dads.

"We are now doing it directly in local communities. Queen's Basketball Club does a great job at encouraging children to keep fit and active. We are delighted to sponsor the Club until 2018 and hope we will soon see some future Northern Ireland NBA stars."

Looking forward to the club's future, Mary Mathews, Chairperson at Queen's Basketball Club, said: "Thanks to Jookit.com we will be able to offer kids from all walks of life the chance play sport and learn new basketball skills.

"With over 350 members and a variety of teams we believe our new partnership with Jookit.com will help the Club to expand and grow over the coming years."
