Boxing: McCloskey ready to sparkle

Paul McCloskey knows that he cannot afford any slip-ups in London's ExCel Arena tonight.

The unbeaten prospect should have little trouble against Silence Saheed in their six-rounder but the Dungiven man will be aiming to sparkle in front of a big crowd.

McCloskey is now aware that promoter Frank Warren is keen to see him fight for the British light-welterweight title before the summer is out.

Coach John Breen certainly expects a win double from his men as WBU light-middleweight champion Wayne Alexander meets Frenchman Serge Vigne.

"Paul knows that he is on track for a title shot and I want him to show everyone again that he is a real talent and I know that he has the ability to go all the way and win a British title fight," said Breen.

"Wayne is closing in on a WBO title in the New Year and he should do a good job tomorrow."
