Burnett eyes win before focusing attention on world bid
British bantamweight champion Ryan Burnett has been hanging on for a major fight for a while now so he intends to keep ticking over with a routine victory in Hull tonight.
The unbeaten Belfast man is part of the supporting bill to Gavin McDonnell's bid for the WBC super-bantamweight title, which is being screened live on Sky Sports.
Burnett should have little trouble handling Mexican Joseafat Reyes who has lost four of his last five fights.
Then he will once again be thinking about a possible world title eliminator or even straight shot at a championship.
Newly-crowned WBA bantamweight champion Zhanat Zhakiyanov is someone that he knows very well having worked with him in the Ricky Hatton gym where the Belfast man used to train.
Now trained by Adam Booth, Burnett said: "He was very, very hard and there are plenty of fighters in the division that will avoid him.
"But it's definitely a fight I want and it's definitely one I can cope with - and win."
