Christiansen call for Belfast Giants to turn up heat on rivals

Doug Christiansen has told his Belfast Giants players that building on Saturday night’s 4-2 win over the Sheffield Steelers is vital to their Elite League title ambitions.

The Giants responded to Friday night’s defeat at the hands of the Steelers and now Christiansen wants the team to put together a winning run with further victories, starting when they head to Edinburgh for a double header this weekend.

“Beating Sheffield last Saturday night is no good if we don’t go out and get more points on the board in Edinburgh,” said Christiansen.

“When you play in Belfast the travelling is tough, so being there for a double header makes things a little easier on us.

“We can get there and settle into the hotel knowing we’re going to be there for a couple of days and that helps with preparation.

“Edinburgh is a tough rink to play in, they have some good forwards too, so it won’t be a case of just turning up and taking the points.”

Christiansen’s line-up is expected to be unchanged, with all his injured players still unavailable.
