Big weekend: Nigel Jones' boys are going for silverware

It's the busiest weekend of the season and also the biggest for Civil Service North who are involved in a final, a semi-final and a vital Ulster Bank Premier League game.

Nigel Jones' side begin their three back to back matches with tonight's Lagan Valley Steels Twenty20 Cup match against North Down, follow it up with a trip to Shaw's Bridge tomorrow for the league game against Instonians and finish on Sunday with their rearranged Ulster Bank Challenge cup semi-final at home to Downpatrick.

Their third game, if fatigue hasn't set in, should be the easiest and although the Section One side are stronger than the abandoned first attempt two weeks ago, CSN with Jones and the in-form Allan Coulter leading the attack and a talented batting line-up spearheaded by professional Griffin Nieuwoudt should have too many guns to be troubled by a side which has already lost three league games, one level below their opponents.

In contrast, the Stormont side are enjoying their best start in years, having won four of their first six but victory over joint champions Instonians would really signal that they are in for the long haul.

North Down will start favourites in tonight's Twenty20 final at The Lawn but more on tradition than form.

They are bidding to become the first team to win the trophy four times. Arguably the biggest game of the weekend in the NCU area takes place at Belmont on Sunday when CIYMS and Waringstown renew rivalries in the other Challenge Cup semi-final.

Tomorrow's North West league programme has been cleared for the second day of the Danske Bank Senior Cup final between holders Donemana and Brigade.
