Ireland all-rounder Alex Cusack will miss next month's one-day international against England due to a back injury.

The two teams meet at Malahide on September 3 but the hosts will be without one of their most experienced players after the 138-cap Clontarf seamer was ruled out.

Coach Phil Simmons said: "It's certainly disappointing for Alex to miss the game as he's an important player for us, particularly in the power-plays. However, we have strength in depth now and it'll give one of the other guys a chance to shine."
