Eglinton's huge win stuns Donemana

EGLINTON II stunned their Donemana counterparts to win the Qualifying 1 Cup final by the massive margin of 289 runs at The Rectory on Sunday.

Victors by six wickets, when chasing 231 in the league game between the teams two weeks ago, Donemana II could manage only 255 runs in two innings in the final, batting less than 52 overs as a superb bowling performance by Richard Stewart (match figures of eight for 80) set up the win, their first cup success for eight years.

Stewart took five for 35 and Andy Millar four for 18 in the first innings as Donemana were bowled out for 66 in just 20 overs and despite a first innings lead of 110, Eglinton chose to bat again and added another 334, including 79 in nine overs on Sunday morning, to leave Donemana an impossible task.

Scores: Eglinton II 176 (48.3 overs, N Stewart 61, R Johnston 27, L Britton 4-21, G Boyd 2-36) and 334-9 (A Lamberton 66, L Ritchie 58, G Lamrock 46, N Stewart 32, G Boyd 4-56, A McNeill 2-66) Donemana II 66 (20 overs, G Boyd 40, R Stewart 5-35, A Millar 4-18) and 189 (31.4 overs, J Robinson 70, R Stewart 3-45, N Stewart 3-60). Eglinton won by 289 runs.
