Fresh faces drafted in to wrestle Warriors

The Northern Knights side for this week's Newstalk inter-provincial championship game against North West Warriors, starting at Eglinton tomorrow, will include four new faces – at least!

Already without eight players when the original 12-man squad was named last week, four more pulled out over the weekend with Lee Nelson, Craig Ervine, Robert McKinley and Stephen Bunting all unavailable.

In come Waringstown teenagers James McCollum and Adam Dennison plus Instonians opening bowler Andrew Forbes, and there is a recall for North Down's Johnny Terrett. Muckamore's Neil Gill, named in the original squad, will be the new player at this level.

Andrew White, who captains the side, and his Instonians team-mate James Shannon will be playing seven days in a row starting today with their must-win game against Lisburn at Wallace Park (12.30pm).

Neil Russell returns to captain the team after missing Saturday's 10 wickets victory over Ballymena, for his other (much better paid) role as a television presenter for Premier Sports' ice-hockey coverage. He could hardly have picked a better game to sit out.

After Ballymena were bowled out for 57, regular openers Eric Layard and Nicolai Smith needed just 40 balls to get the runs with the rest of the team spectators.

After today's action, Instonians have a triple header, against North Down on Friday and then the back to back games against leaders Waringstown.

Lisburn, meanwhile, condemned Muckamore to an immediate return to Section One with an eight wickets victory at Moylena.
