North Down stroll into Twenty20 Cup final

CRICKET: Waringstown narrowly avoided complete humiliation against North Down in last night's semi-final of the Lagan Valley Steels Twenty20 Cup at The Lawn.

The home side were reduced to 23-6 in the 11th over and were saved from total embarrassment thanks to an unbeaten 54 from James Hall and Andrew Mitchell with 37.

North Down will now meet Lisburn in the final after reaching the 114 required to win for the loss of one wicket with more than 5 overs to spare.

Jonny Terrett, 42, and unbeaten Nick Larkin, 53 off 38 balls, dominated the home bowling in emphatic fashion.

Waringstown 113-7 (J Hall 54 no, A Mitchell 37, J Cameron-Dow 3-18, P Eakin 2-21, T Ley 2-11). North Down 114-1, 14.5 overs (N Larkin 53 no, J Terrett 42)
