Dun deal for Awada and Belfast Giants

Published 23/09/2009

George Awada is determined to maintain the Dundonald Ice Bowl as a fortress for the Belfast Giants.

Unbeaten at the venue in four games last season, the Giants head back there for tonight’s Elite League meeting with the Hull Stingrays.

And Awada is happier that the game is being staged there instead of the Odyssey Arena.

“Since I have come here we haven’t had the best of luck in midweek games at the Odyssey,” he said.

“Dundonald will be full for this game, whereas the Odyssey wouldn’t be even half full for a Wednesday night game.

“We haven’t won at home yet, although we’ve played well and had chances, so this is a chance for us to get going.

“We like playing at Dundonald and hopefully Hull don’t and it can be an advantage.”
