Heartbreak for Tyrone trainer

Tyrone trainer Andy Oliver came within a heartbeat of landing his first Group race when Perfect Polly was only beaten a neck in a blanket finish in the Group Three Go and Go Round Tower stakes at the Curragh yesterday.

Perfect Polly had made all the running and looked like holding on when Norman Invader came on the scene and just squeezed home. Oliver said: " Though I'm delighted with her performance, she was probably unlucky for she gave everybody else a tow and had all those horses on the outside covered before Norman Invader came up to grab the spoils."

Meanwhile trainer Jim Bolger was on the mark yesterday when Many Colours won her fourth race out of five when lifting the design stakes and then Sauorise Abu took the Moyglare Stud stakes by a length from the favourite, the Aidan O'Brien-trained Listen.
