Ireland hockey tour to America gives Chloe Brown a chance to make World League
Chloe Brown will have a big chance to stake a claim for a place in Ireland's World League 3 squad as she is one of six Ulster players included in the panel for seven matches against the USA and Canada next month.
The Ards striker missed out on the first phase of 2016 Olympic qualifying but she now has a last opportunity to impress national coach Darren Smith who has named a 20-strong squad for the trip to America.
The New Zealander has indicated that the 18 players who will travel to Valencia for World League 3 in June will, almost certainly, come from this group meaning that two will be omitted.
The other Ulster players selected for three games against the USA and four against Canada in Toronto are captain Megan Frazer, her Ulster Elks team mate Shirley McCay, Pegasus goalkeeper Ayeisha McFerran, Katie Mullan (UCD) and Lizzie Colvin (Loreto).
"The three matches against USA will be extremely difficult and give us great practice towards the World League 3 and we will also welcome the challenge that Canada will bring after we complete the USA leg," said Smith.
