Football: Beattie's six of the best is Ard to beat for Rangers

You just can't beat a Beattie!

That's what Ards Rangers II were boasting after their striker Stewart Beattie crashed in SIX goals in a 10-0 win to secure their place in the Daily Mirror Amateur League's Templeton Cup second round.

The Drome Park lads swept aside East Down II with Beattie unstoppable in front of goal. Michael McKeown chipped in with two and Johnny Rose and Keith Mowat completed the double-figure rout.

Rangers now go to Larne Tech OB II in the second round, scheduled to be completed by November 24.

Two other Templeton Cup ties took place on Saturday with Mossley II winning the east Antrim derby against Kilroot Rec II 3-0 and McQuiston Rec II chalking up a 7-2 success at Grange Rangers II.

McQuiston's goals came from Dean Watson (2), Gareth Ryan (2), Ian Pinkerton (2) and Peter Walton, and now they will meet east Belfast rivals Donard Hospital II in the second round. Mossley will go to Sirocco Works II.
