GAA: Fintona mark their centenary along the write lines

The work of chronicling one hundred years of history within any club can prove particularly demanding.

But this task certainly did not deter an intrepid group of workers from the Fintona club.

They set about their task with relish and the end product is a magnificent publication that has just been officially launched.

It was at Fintona Golf Club that the GAA club's comprehensive history tome was formally unveiled and already the memories have come flooding back in a club which has gone from strength to strength of late.

Greg McMullan is one of the quartet who have spent many hours researching the material and outlining the statistics that make the club's history a fascinating read.

"I must admit that we were maybe a bit apprehensive at the start but when we got started we just kept going. We are delighted to have completed the project and hopefully the club's history will prove interesting for all those who read it," said Greg.

The launch of the book is just one of many elements of the club's centenary year.

"We have had a number of events already all of which have been very well supported and his reflects the great intereset and goodwill that the club enjoys within the community as a whole," Greg added.

Fintona boast one of the best-appointed grounds in Tyrone and the future certainly looks bright for this go-ahead club.
