The Glen ladies football side from Maghera certainly have winning ways on and off the field, it would seem.
Already this year they have landed three trophies - the latest being the All Ireland Ladies Intermediate Sevens Cup which they won in considerable style at Portmarnock. This trophy has joined the Derry Intermediate Championship and the Abbey Fanning Memorial silverware on their sideboard.
Not only have the Maghera girls shown the way out on the pitch but they have been proving great ambassadors for their club.
In the All Ireland Sevens, Glen remained undefeated in their group before taking on fancied Laune Rangers from Kerry in the semi-final.
But Glen proved unstoppable winning by 9-4 to 4-4 to book their place in the final against Tuam/Cortoon (Galway).
Glen captain Kathy Conway was to prove the architect of her team's victory, her two early goals proving the catalyst for an inspired team performance.
Karen Kielt also netted as Glen slowly took command even though their Galway opponents were backboned by Connacht aces.
Glen's four-point win emphasised their stature in the ladies game and has engendered considerable optimism for the Ulster Intermediate Championship in which they have already been installed among the favourites.
In the Senior Sevens final at Portmarnock, Ulster champions Donaghmoyne from Monaghan were unfortunate to lose out to Senchalstown (Meath) in a 30-metre shoot-out which followed after the sides were level after normal time.
