Ladies' hockey: Mossley debut U-12 side

Last Sunday marked a special occasion for Mossley Hockey Club, as their under-12 team played in their first tournament - and it won't be their last!

The girls braved the elements, getting soaked before they even stepped on the pitch for their first match.

Garvey Gators were first up for the Mossley girls, and that game ended 2-0 to the Gators.

Next up was a tough and experienced Lurgan side. This match saw the save of the day from Mossley's new goalkeeper Rebecca Lockhart, however it wasn't enough to stop a second defeat for her side.

Mossley's final game saw the girls go down 2-0 to Lisnagarvey.

That was the first tournament taste for Mossley's under-12s but many more matches will follow throughout the year.

Club spokeswoman Debbie Peachey explained: "Although we were beaten in all matches, the score lines did not reflect how the girls played.

"We were extremely pleased with the performance of all the girls, in what was our first tournament as a new team.

"The team morale was high all day, and all girls gave it their 110 percent.

"Well done to all the girls, and especially to player of the tournament Rebecca Lockhart."

Mossley Under 12 squad: Amy Blair, Zoe Robinson, Rebecca Lockhart, Paula Gilmore, Sophie Bartley, Beth Evans, Jessica Sellar, Sophie Boyd, Elora Peachey, Anna Glassey
