Mark Shannon is ready for treble test

By David Mason

Bangor's Mark Shannon admits his team's treble trophy hopes will be scrutinised over the next 24 hours.

The Seasiders face Divis in the final of the NIBA Cup at Balmoral tonight before going head-to-head with Whitehead in an IBA quarter-final showdown.

"They don't come much more difficult," said Shannon. "We'll be taking one game at a time, with our focus being on the final against Divis – the Whitehead match will look after itself.

"It's a massive test for both clubs. At least we have home advantage and we are at full strength, which is a bonus."

Both clubs are also battling it out at the top of the NIBA Division One table, Whitehead holding a narrow one-and-a-half point lead.

Bangor closed the gap in midweek by bagging six-and-a-half points against Dundonald, while Whitehead dropped two at home to struggling Portadown.

Meanwhile, Ballymena's PGL Senior Division title defence could come under threat when they return to Belmont tonight to complete a game that was rained off last month.

Fixtures: Tonight: PGL Division One: Belmont v Ballymena (last six ends to be played of a game that was postponed because of a flooded green).

Saturday: IBA Senior Cup quarter-finals: Ballymena v Divis, Bangor v Whitehead, Dunbarton v Ballymoney, Letterkenny v Coleraine.

IBA Junior Cup quarter finals: Ballycastle v Limavady, Ballymena v Dunbarton, CYM v Sydenham, Downpatrick v Skerries.

NIBA Division One: Dundonald v Banbridge, Lisnagarvey v Balmoral, Lurgan v Portadown.

Private Greens League Senior Division One: Belmont v NICS, Mossley v Old Bleach, Pickie v Willowfield.

Provincial Progressive Senior League: Portglenone v Portrush, City of Derry v Brooke Park.
