Neal McCotter urges Star to bounce back from defeat

Belfast Star coach Neal McCotter believes American Shawn Vanzant can step up another level and spark his side's first win of the new All Ireland Premier League campaign.

Star have their opening home match of the season at Methodist College tonight (7pm) when they entertain newcomers Eanna and McCotter wants to see an immediate reaction to the defeat at the hands of Marian in Dublin last weekend.

Star had placed themselves in a winning position against the Dubliners but then the scores dried up in the last quarter and victory slipped away - and that is something that McCotter has been determined to put right all week, with point guard Vanzant naturally playing a key role.

"Defensively we were very good against Marian, holding them to 65 and when you do that you really have to win the game but offensively we just didn't fire the way we need to," said McCotter.

Star will be without Michael McKillop who has a knee injury and may be missing for five weeks.
