Rebecca Lennon targets the top with help from Mary Peters Trust

By Robert Jones

Archer Rebecca Lennon is one of the young athletes set to benefit after the Mary Peters Trust announced another round of funding worth £40,000.

Eighty young athletes from across Northern Ireland will receive funding to support and accelerate their sporting careers.

In addition to financial support, the athletes, along with their parents, coaches and sporting body representatives, were invited to attend the Trust’s biannual Athlete Workshop where UTV Sports correspondent Ruth Gorman gave a masterclass in dealing with the media.

Nineteen-year-old Rebecca, from Banbridge, won gold at the All Ireland National Series Ladies Compound as well as team silver and individual bronze at the European Target Archery Championships and has been selected onto the Archery GB Senior Elite Compound Squad for the second year.

And backing from the Trust is sure to help Rebecca in her goal of reaching the top.
