Trott leads England charge

Published 18/11/2009

Half-centuries from Andrew Strauss, Jonathan Trott and Matt Prior helped England seal a fighting four-wicket victory over South Africa A in a thrilling encounter at Potchefstroom last night.

Set a daunting 280 for victory, the tourists were 165 for four with 16 overs to go, but a 66-run partnership between Trott (74) and Prior (54) kept them in the mix and Prior and Luke Wright (25 not out) saw them home with 11 balls to spare.

Captain Strauss gave his side a good start with a 71-ball 65 and Eoin Morgan a run-a-ball 21 after the home side posted 279 for nine.
